Lumen Engineering is hiring a Junior Software Developer to join our Long Island City team.

About the role

You'll build and fix features under the guidance of senior developers: picking up well-scoped tickets, writing code and unit tests, opening pull requests, and responding to review feedback. You'll debug issues reported by users or QA, write small documentation updates, and participate in standups and sprint planning. Over time you'll take on larger pieces of the codebase and learn how the team designs, ships, and supports software.

What you will bring

You bring solid programming fundamentals from school, bootcamp, or personal projects, curiosity about how the whole system works, and humility in code review. You'd rather ask a question early than sink a day, and you finish what you pick up.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree, diploma, or equivalent training in software development or computer science
  • Working knowledge of at least one modern programming language
  • Familiarity with version control and basic testing practices
  • Eligibility to work in Canada
