Lumen Engineering is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to join our Long Island City team.

About the role
You'll design and build the data platform: modelling warehouse schemas, developing and orchestrating ELT pipelines, and making datasets reliable enough that analysts and product teams trust them by default. You'll set standards for testing, observability, and cost efficiency across pipelines, tune slow jobs and queries, handle privacy and access controls for sensitive data, and mentor other engineers through design and code review.
What you will bring
You've built production data pipelines for years and have strong opinions, loosely held, about modelling, orchestration, and data quality. You write clean SQL and Python, think about failure modes before they page you, and enjoy raising a team's engineering bar.

Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of data engineering experience with production pipeline ownership
- Expert SQL and strong Python, plus experience with an orchestrator such as Airflow or Dagster
- Hands-on experience with a cloud data warehouse such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift
- Eligibility to work in Canada
